As the exclusive provider of inpatient behavioral health services in western Nebraska, Regional West’s Behavioral Health Unit provides psychiatric day treatment and residential services for patients from western Nebraska, eastern Wyoming, and northeastern Colorado. The unit is the site of the Homeward Bound program, which allows board-committed patients access to treatment in their own community rather than a state facility. The program features intensive treatment sessions and seamless links to community wrap-around services.

William Michael l MD a board-certified psychiatrist, earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed both his internship and residency in psychiatry at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.

Mark Scanlan l MD is board-certified in child, adolescent, and general adult psychiatry, as well as addiction psychiatry. He holds a medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kansas, and completed his internship and residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. In addition, he completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute in Columbia, South Carolina.

Ruchika Yusufuji l MD is board certified in Psychiatry. Dr. Yusufji earned a medical degree from Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, India and completed the Psychiatry residency program at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, La.

Rachel Wilkenson l MD is board eligible. Dr. Wilkenson earned a medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed residency training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita.

Jeffrey Fuhrman l MA, LPC, LADC is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner and Nebraska Licensed Addictions Counselor. He earned a master’s degree from Chadron State College, Chadron, Nebraska. He is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors.

Anastasia Mai l MS, LPC is a certified mental health therapist. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Wyoming in Laramie. She is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors.

R. Vernon Kirk l PsyD is a Clinical Psychologist and is certified in Psychology. He graduated from the Hahnemann University of Health Sciences in Philadelphia, Pa. and completed an internship at Fairmount Institute in Philadelphia.
