Weight Loss Options at Regional West
Weight loss surgeries have been performed at Regional West for more than 25 years. In 2006, Regional West and Western Surgical Group formed Weight Loss Options. The program was  recognized as an American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Center of Excellence. The designation is reserved for recognizing surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery.
Regional West and Western Surgical Group of Scottsbluff began doing gastric bypass surgery in 1980 and laparoscopic bypass surgery in 2000. In 2001, Regional West became the first hospital in the region and one of only two hospitals west of the Mississippi River to perform lap-banding procedures. Though more facilities perform the surgery now, Regional West is proud to offer a great deal of experience in the procedure, performing 850 gastric banding procedures since 2001. That is more procedures than any other hospital in Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, Kansas, Iowa or South Dakota.
